Royals Acquire Kyle Wright and Nick Anderson from Braves

Wright, the 2022 Major League wins leader, expected to miss 2024 season due to shoulder surgery

Kyle Wright, a former 20-game winner, has been traded by the Braves to the Royals in a move that also saw Jackson Kowar head to Atlanta.
Wright, who led the majors with 21 wins in 2022, is not expected to pitch in the 2024 season due to a shoulder surgery he underwent in October.
Despite his injury, Wright is seen as a long-term asset for the Royals, with three arbitration-eligible years and free agency not until 2027.
Alongside Wright, the Royals also acquired reliever Nick Anderson from the Braves in a separate trade.
Kowar, who was moved to the bullpen in 2023, struggled with a 9.12 ERA across 39 games and was unable to hold command over the plate.
