Royal Mint Unveils Coin for 80th D-Day Anniversary

The new 50p coin commemorates the historic 1944 landings, featuring a design by David Lawrence and a portrait of King Charles.

The coin depicts Allied soldiers landing on Normandy beaches under air cover.
It is inscribed with the names of the five assault beaches: Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno, and Sword.
French sand artists recreated the coin design on Gold Beach in a large-scale sand art installation.
The coin serves as a tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of British and Allied troops.
