• Sales opened Monday on the Royal Mint website, with editions ranging from a £15 brilliant uncirculated coin to silver proofs and a £1,730 gold proof.
• The design features Mr Monopoly, game tokens and property cards, with a lenticular GO sign that shifts to the M money symbol when tilted.
• The coin will not enter general circulation and, while legal tender, commemorative pieces are not required to be accepted by shops or banks.
• Launch promotions include a London “ultimate Monopoly UK coin hunt” on 18 September featuring a roaming giant silver top hat and social media prizes, plus a digital hunt hosted by the Mint.
• A single solid gold coin is hidden behind door 24 of a limited-edition Monopoly advent calendar, and from 30 September visitors can strike a Monopoly 50p at the Royal Mint Experience in Llantrisant as part of a Hasbro collaboration.
