Royal Mint Puts 2026 Commemorative Coins on Sale Highlighting Queen Elizabeth II Centenary

The annual set debuts with a limited run in recycled gold, signaling the Mint’s shift to circular sourcing.

Overview

  • The 2026 coin sets are available from January 2 on The Royal Mint’s website, with prices starting at £39.50 and a limited 22‑carat gold set priced at £14,500.
  • The collection includes two 50p coins (100 Years of the British Grand Prix; 50 Years of The King’s Trust), two £2 coins (ZSL bicentenary; HMS Beagle 200th), and a £5 coin marking Queen Elizabeth II’s centenary.
  • The Queen Elizabeth II £5 coin features her cypher, St Edward’s Crown, foliage inspired by St George’s Chapel’s East Door, the inscription “Exaltabitur in gloria,” and 100 beads denoting the centenary.
  • In a first for the Mint, 52 gold commemoratives were produced using recycled gold with partner Sempsa, with a goal to make all gold commemoratives from recycled gold by the end of 2026 and continued metals recovery at the south Wales site.
  • All coins carry the official coinage portrait of King Charles III and are sold as collectibles rather than for circulation, with The King’s Trust 50p available only within the annual set.
