Overview

  • Royal Mail says it is the first international postal operator to offer a Postal Delivery Duties Paid service for U.S.-bound goods, going live today.
  • The rollout precedes a U.S. executive order that removes duty- and tax-free entry for goods valued at $800 or less from August 29, which is roughly £600.
  • With only limited exceptions, items entering the United States will now attract import duties that Royal Mail will collect and remit to U.S. customs.
  • UK consumers and businesses can continue sending parcels to the United States through all usual channels, including online and the Post Office.
  • Separately, Royal Mail is introducing 3,500 solar-powered parcel postboxes with digitally activated drawers as part of a wider redesign.
