Rotterdam Weekend Roadworks Shut A13, A16 and Key N-Routes as A16 Tie-In Begins

The closures enable final tie-ins for the new A16 Rotterdam, which starts a phased opening on 6 October.

Overview

  • A13 toward Rotterdam is closed between Delft-Zuid and Kleinpolderplein from Friday 20:00 to Monday 05:00, and A16 toward Dordrecht is shut between Terbregseplein and Ridderkerk for the same window with detours via A4, A15 and A20.
  • N11 closes for maintenance between Alphen aan den Rijn-West and Bodegraven from Friday 21:00 to Sunday 08:00, N209 toward Zoetermeer is shut from Friday 22:00 to Monday 05:00, and N206 near Valkenburg is closed from Friday 20:00 to Tuesday 06:00 for Broekweg viaduct beam installation.
  • Rijkswaterstaat warns of 30 to 60 minutes or more of extra travel time and advises avoiding car trips or using public transport after earlier weekends saw severe congestion on diversion routes.
  • Additional impacts include the Spijkenisserbrug (N492) closed from Friday 21:00 to Monday 05:00 and the Thomassentunnel closed Saturday 22:00 to Sunday 10:00, while the Van Brienenoordbrug remains accessible.
  • The new A16 Rotterdam opens toward Dordrecht/Breda on 6 October with another weekend closure scheduled for 24–27 October, Brug Ouderkerk’s planned closure is postponed due to weather, and separate investigations follow a serious A12 Harmelen crash and a Boxtel train–car collision with a driver reported under the influence.
