Rotherham Rioter Sentenced to Nine Years for Racist Violence and Arson

Levi Fishlock played a central role in a mob attack targeting an asylum seeker hotel, endangering lives and injuring dozens of officers.

  • Levi Fishlock, 31, was sentenced to nine years in prison for violent disorder and arson with intent to endanger life during riots in Rotherham on August 4.
  • Fishlock was a key figure in the attack on a Holiday Inn Express housing over 200 asylum seekers, where rioters smashed windows, set fires, and hurled racial slurs.
  • The court heard that Fishlock added fuel to a burning bin pushed against the hotel’s fire door, endangering lives, and later attacked police vehicles with rocks.
  • The riots left 64 police officers, three horses, and a dog injured, while hotel staff barricaded themselves in a panic room fearing for their lives.
  • Judge Jeremy Richardson described the case as one of the worst he had presided over and stated Fishlock's actions cast a lasting stain on Rotherham's reputation.
