Rotherham Abuser Sageer Hussain Given Extra Three Years for Historic Rape

The Sheffield Crown Court ruling adds overlapping custody time in a case brought through the NCA’s Operation Stovewood.

Overview

  • Hussain, 40, was sentenced to three years for raping a girl aged about 14 between 2000 and 2002 after a jury convicted him in July.
  • The new sentence starts immediately and overlaps with his existing 19‑year term, with half of the three years to be served in prison before release on licence.
  • Prosecutors said he coerced the victim into an alleyway in Rotherham; she later attended court for sentencing and was praised by the judge for her conduct.
  • NCA investigator Alan Hastings and CPS prosecutor Liz Fell credited the victim’s courage and corroborating evidence with enabling the conviction.
  • Two co-defendants, Kessur Ajaib and Mohammed Makhmood, convicted of raping a different 14-year-old, are due to be sentenced on 21 November as Operation Stovewood reports 49 convictions to date.
