Overview

  • Pushers, a six-part sitcom co-written by Rosie Jones and Peter Fellows, debuts on Channel 4 on Thursday 19 June at 10 pm.
  • Set in Sheffield, it follows Emily as she exploits societal misconceptions about cerebral palsy to build an illegal drugs operation after her state benefits are slashed.
  • Jones drew on her own history of reassessment and reduced support under the UK benefits system to ground the show’s critique of disability welfare.
  • The series features a predominantly disabled cast—including Rhiannon Clements, Jon Furlong and Ryan McParland—and portrays out gay characters without making disability or queerness the sole focus.
  • Originating from the award-winning 2022 Comedy Blap Disability Benefits, Pushers marks Rosie Jones’s first full sitcom commission on Channel 4.
