Roseville Couple Arrested on Murder and Child Abuse Charges After 7-Year-Old's Death

Investigators say the surviving children are now in Child Protective Services custody.

Overview

  • Officers responded around 7:37 a.m. to a medical aid call on Oahu Court and found a 7-year-old girl unresponsive with apparent injuries who was later pronounced dead.
  • A 5-year-old girl was located injured in a bedroom and hospitalized, while two other children in the home were unhurt.
  • The residents, Jessica Savangsy, 26, and Retuquel Dupree, 27, were booked into the South Placer County Jail on suspicion of murder, conspiracy and felony child abuse.
  • Sheriff’s records show the pair were booked on Oct. 6 for conspiracy and grand theft, and the Citrus Heights Police Department confirmed Dupree briefly worked there in 2021 and did not quit.
  • Relatives interviewed by KCRA defended Dupree’s character, and neighbors reported prior disturbances at the home as police maintained a command presence at the scene.
