Overview
- Counterfeit €20 banknotes have been used in recent days at petrol stations, supermarkets and festival stalls across Rosenheim.
- Many seized fakes share the serial prefix “SS300…”, and the Bundesbank notes the serial appears in the upper right of the note.
- The police recommend the feel–see–tilt check and comparisons with ATM-dispensed notes, while the Bundesbank urges verifying multiple security features.
- Victims are not reimbursed for accepted fake notes, and knowingly passing on counterfeits to limit losses is a criminal offense.
- Anyone suspecting a fake should call 110 immediately and keep others from touching the note, as the Kriminalpolizei Rosenheim investigates under the Staatsanwaltschaft Traunstein.
