Rosaviatsiya Lifts Weather-Related Flight Restrictions at Regional Airports

The regulator said the short-term limits were imposed solely to protect flight safety during the season’s first snow.

Overview

  • Restrictions were removed early on November 15 in Samara (Kurumoch) and Saratov (Gagarin) and later in Kazan, Nizhnekamsk (Begishevo), Ufa and Izhevsk.
  • One aircraft bound for Samara diverted to an alternate airfield during the temporary measures, officials said.
  • Moscow hubs Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo and Vnukovo saw only minor overnight delays as rain and wet snow moved into the region.
  • By morning, airports in the Moscow area and St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo reported normal operations with winter procedures in place, including de‑icing and snow clearing.
  • Authorities said they continue to monitor conditions and can reintroduce short-term safety restrictions if required.
