Overview

  • The blaze erupted around 10:00 a.m. on June 4 during roofing membrane replacement on the Agraria faculty’s rooftop.
  • Flames spread into chemistry and genetics laboratories storing 500 liters of ethanol and nitrogen oxide cylinders, elevating the hazard.
  • Students, staff and residents within a 500-meter radius were evacuated and no injuries have been reported.
  • Four firefighting teams, reinforced by units from Rome and Terni, contained the fire within hours.
  • Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini contacted Rector Stefano Ubertini to express support and pledge ministry assistance for damage assessment and continuity of teaching.
