Ronald Acuña Jr. Placed on 10-Day IL With Achilles Inflammation

Wednesday’s MRI will confirm the severity of his Achilles inflammation ahead of a rehab plan

Overview

  • Acuña exited the July 29 loss in Kansas City with right Achilles tightness and was officially put on the 10-day injured list Wednesday
  • He was seen wearing a walking boot after the game and will undergo an MRI to rule out any structural damage to the tendon
  • Manager Brian Snitker said he hopes the inflammation will clear in about 10 days, allowing Acuña to begin a rehabilitation program
  • Atlanta recalled outfielder Jarred Kelenic from Triple-A Gwinnett to take over Acuña’s role in the right field corner
  • Before this setback, the 2023 NL MVP was batting .306/.429/.577 with 14 home runs and 26 RBIs in 55 games
