Before his acting career, Harper was awarded a scholarship to Princeton University and a fellowship to Harvard Law School, which he turned down to pursue acting.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was Paul Newman's understudy in the Broadway production of 'Sweet Bird of Youth' before starting his television and film career.
Harper's career included roles in multiple short-lived TV series and films such as 'Pearl Harbor,' 'The Odd Couple II,' and 'Glass Trap.'
