• DiMenna died Sept. 6 at his Florida home at age 88, and no cause of death has been released.
• Ron Jon Surf Shop President Michele Goodwin issued a statement mourning his loss and offering condolences to his wife, Lynne, while affirming that day-to-day operations will continue.
• He opened the first store on Long Beach Island in 1961 and later built the Cocoa Beach flagship, billed as the world's largest surf shop.
• The brand has expanded to more than a dozen locations across Florida and other destinations, including Ocean City, Myrtle Beach, Orange Beach, Las Vegas, Grand Turk, and Cozumel.
