Romario Gordon Jailed for 13 Years for Role in 2021 Croydon Killing of 16-Year-Old Camron Smith

Judge Anuja Dhir KC said the killing followed a planned revenge search with knives.

Overview

  • The 22-year-old was sentenced at the Old Bailey on 17 November after being found guilty of manslaughter in September.
  • A machete-armed group forced entry into three addresses before reaching Bracken Avenue, where Camron was chased into his mother’s bedroom and fatally stabbed.
  • Detectives linked the group through DNA left in a hijacked Toyota Prius abandoned in Lower Addiscombe, and CCTV showed Gordon fleeing the car and discarding a large machete.
  • Days after the attack, Gordon flew from Heathrow to The Gambia; an international arrest warrant was issued and he was detained on his return to the UK in August 2023.
  • Earlier trials led to significant sentences for others involved, including life with a 28-year minimum for Romain La Pierre, 15 years for Jordan Tcheuko, and eight years for James Olanipekun.
