Rolling Airport Curbs Shift Across Russia as Vilnius Halts Flights Over Balloons

The aviation regulator says the measures are temporary steps to ensure flight safety.

Overview

  • Rosaviatsia on October 25 announced new temporary limits on arrivals and departures at the airports of Volgograd, Gelendzhik, and Yaroslavl.
  • The Gelendzhik airport restrictions were lifted the same morning, with the field declared ready for flight operations from 08:30 Moscow time.
  • Later on October 25, the regulator said temporary limits were also lifted at Ukhta airport.
  • Rosaviatsia reported fresh curbs at Krasnodar’s Pashkovsky airport in the evening, noting they apply in addition to an existing NOTAM.
  • Separately, Vilnius paused flights due to one or more balloons moving toward the airport, with the restriction set to last until 02:00 Moscow time after a similar brief halt there and in Kaunas the previous night.
