Overview
- The assessment was agreed at the 50th ROK–US Military Committee Meeting at South Korea’s Joint Chiefs headquarters in Yongsan, Seoul.
 - Gen. Jin Yong-sung and Gen. Dan Caine reaffirmed their commitment to a conditions-based transition and to strengthening combined readiness and alliance modernization.
 - Officials said the progress reflects this year’s annual evaluation informed by large-scale combined exercises such as Ulchi Freedom Shield.
 - The leaders described a more complex security environment driven by North Korea’s advancing nuclear and missile programs and wider military competition, while asserting allied deterrence supports regional stability.
 - Following the talks, the two chairs conducted the alliance’s first joint commanders’ formation flight, with Jin in a KF-16 and Caine in an F-16 over key locations in South Korea.
