Overview

  • Los Angeles activated Sasaki from the 60-day injured list and placed Kirby Yates on the IL retroactive to Sept. 21 with a right hamstring strain.
  • Sasaki worked a 1-2-3 seventh inning with two strikeouts, throwing 13 pitches and touching 99–100 mph in his first MLB relief appearance.
  • Manager Dave Roberts said Sasaki will be used in short stints over the final games to determine a potential playoff role.
  • Clayton Kershaw also pitched a scoreless ninth in relief as the Dodgers evaluate starter-to-reliever options to stabilize late innings.
  • The Dodgers beat the Diamondbacks 5-4 in 11 innings on Tommy Edman’s RBI single, a night after a blown save highlighted ongoing bullpen woes.
