Overview
- NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar accused Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat of clearing a 15-acre CIDCO land decision in Navi Mumbai for the Bivalkar family valued at about Rs 5,000 crore.
- Pawar said CIDCO had rejected the family’s bids in 1994, 1995, 2010 and 2023, yet the file was approved in Shirsat’s first meeting as CIDCO chairman in 2024 under the 12.5% project-affected persons scheme.
- Shirsat called the claims baseless, acknowledged clearing a proposal, and said the board must decide legality and that no allotment letter or agreement has been issued.
- The opposition announced an MVA-led protest at CIDCO on August 20 and sought Shirsat’s resignation along with a probe by a special task force headed by a retired judge.
- No independent investigation had been announced as of August 19, as rivals also cite earlier controversies around Shirsat and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut pushes related allegations in a letter to the Union home minister.
