The duo's stake in the teams will increase to 80% by early 2024, pending NBA Board of Governors approval.

Alex Rodriguez and Marc Lore are set to acquire controlling ownership of the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves and WNBA's Lynx, raising their stake to 80% by early 2024.
The purchase, which is still subject to NBA Board of Governors approval, is the final step in a process that began in 2021.
Current owner Glen Taylor, who bought the franchise in 1994, will retain a 20% share.
Under Lore and Rodriguez's influence, the Timberwolves are having their best season in history with a 22-7 record and the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
Rodriguez, a former MLB player, and Lore, a businessman, have already had some involvement in the team’s basketball operations, including hiring Tim Connelly as president and trading for Rudy Gobert.
