Overview

  • R3 service was again halted late Sunday morning after a catenary and points fault between Parets del Vallès and Granollers Canovelles, suspending trains between L’Hospitalet de Llobregat and La Garriga and canceling departures from L’Hospitalet.
  • Renfe set up shuttle buses linking Parets, Granollers, Les Franqueses and La Garriga, and advised alternatives via R2 Nord at Granollers Centre and the R1 and R4 within the L’Hospitalet–Sants corridor.
  • A separate breakdown between Cunit and Cubelles prompted a passenger evacuation and a Ferrocat prealert that was later closed, with knock‑on delays of around 30 minutes on R2 Sud and the R13–R17 services.
  • By Sunday afternoon the Barcelona–Tarragona corridor was recovering, and on Monday morning Rodalies reported R3 trains running again with frequencies normalizing while the bus bridging remains in place.
  • Major works to double track between Parets del Vallès and La Garriga start on 27 September for 16 months with over €140 million in investment, as user groups decry confusing incident information and patchy alternatives.
