Rocky Horror Picture Show Marks 50th With 4K Restoration, Live Screening and Nationwide Tour

The 10-month digital remaster revives the cult favorite for theaters in October, offering Dolby Vision visuals enriched with Atmos audio.

Overview

  • The Walt Disney Studios Restoration team spent 10 months conducting a meticulous digital scan to produce a 4K version with Dolby Vision HDR, Atmos audio and a fully restored original mono track.
  • On Sept. 26, the Academy Museum’s David Geffen Theater will host a one-night sing-along screening of the 4K restoration featuring Tim Curry, producer Lou Adler and the Sins O’ The Flesh shadow cast.
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show Spectacular Tour kicks off Sept. 23 and travels to 55 U.S. and Canadian cities through Nov. 3, offering meet-and-greets with Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn and Nell Campbell.
  • The restored film returns to cinemas nationwide throughout October and will be followed by a limited-edition 4K Blu-ray and digital release on Oct. 7 with Dolby Vision and Atmos support.
  • Additional anniversary highlights include a West Hollywood fan convention on Sept. 27, Cinespia’s outdoor screening at Hollywood Forever Cemetery on Oct. 4, a deluxe red-in-gold vinyl soundtrack on Oct. 10 and a GRAMMY Museum panel on Oct. 15.
