Overview

  • Interim manager Warren Schaeffer was tossed by umpire Ramon De Jesus in the third inning after stepping between De Jesus and outfielder Tyler Freeman over a called third strike.
  • Schaeffer dramatically spiked his gum and hat into the dirt then knelt at home plate to show where he believed the pitch had crossed the strike zone.
  • After cooling off, Schaeffer returned to ask De Jesus what Freeman had said to earn such a rapid ejection.
  • Brenton Doyle’s RBI double in the eighth, Orlando Arcia’s tying homer in the ninth and Kyle Farmer’s 11th-inning single powered Colorado to a 4–3 extra-innings win over Milwaukee.
  • The victory improved the Rockies to 19–65 on the season and marked an energetic morale boost in Schaeffer’s 11–32 run as interim manager.
