Rockies Finalize Michael Lorenzen Deal, Designate Bradley Blalock for Assignment

The club announced Lorenzen’s signing for 2026 at $8 million with a $9 million club option for 2027 and a $250,000 buyout.
Lorenzen, 34, is slated for the rotation after a 2025 season with Kansas City in which he went 7–11 with a 4.64 ERA and 127 strikeouts in 141 2/3 innings.
To open a 40-man spot, Colorado designated 25-year-old right-hander Bradley Blalock for assignment, initiating a five-day period to trade him or place him on outright waivers.
Blalock logged an 8.16 ERA over 89 1/3 MLB innings across 2024–25 with elevated walk and home-run rates, and he also struggled in Triple-A, often pitching in hitter-friendly Albuquerque.
The move comes as the Rockies rebuild after 119 losses in 2025 under new baseball leadership, with Lorenzen bringing an 11-season track record and a 4.08 career ERA.
