Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Weekend Brings Extensive Road Closures to San Diego

MTS is rerouting bus lines with trolley service maintained throughout the weekend.

Overview

  • Health & Fitness Expo opens Friday at noon and Saturday at 9 a.m. with running gear, nutrition information and interactive exhibits.
  • Saturday’s 5K starts at 7 a.m. in Balboa Park, closing Presidents Way, El Prado and Balboa Drive until about 8:30 a.m.
  • Sunday’s marathon and half-marathon begin at Sixth and Quince streets at 6:15 a.m. and share a route through Hillcrest, North Park and Mission Valley before splitting.
  • Road closures and no-parking zones from 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. will affect SR-163 northbound, freeway ramps and key city streets, with rolling reopenings.
  • MTS trolley lines will run normally but multiple bus routes will detour and Waze is advising drivers on alternate routes.
