Roche Begins Construction on €600 Million Diagnostic Production Center in Bavaria

Roche is investing over €600 million in a new diagnostic production center in Penzberg, Germany, marking its largest single investment in the country to date.
The facility will produce 450 diagnostic substances, including enzymes and antibodies, for use in tests across fields like oncology, neurology, and cardiology.
The eight-story, 23,000-square-meter center is expected to be completed in 2027, with production starting in 2028 and employing 200 staff initially.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Bavarian Premier Markus Söder attended the groundbreaking, emphasizing the project's importance for Germany's biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
Scholz highlighted regulatory reforms and €7 billion in recent industry investments, which have created over 10,000 jobs and bolstered Germany's global competitiveness in medtech and biotech.
