Overview
- Mohammed Zahid, known as “Boss Man,” was jailed for 35 years for multiple rapes and child sex offences against two teenagers.
- Mushtaq Ahmed was sentenced to 27 years, Kasir Bashir received 29 years in his absence, Mohammed Shahzad and Naheem Akram got 26 years each, Nisar Hussain 19 years, and Roheez Khan 12 years.
- Bashir fled while on bail and was sentenced in absentia, with the court hearing he is believed to be out of the country.
- The court heard that the girls were groomed from about age 13 with gifts, alcohol and drugs, passed between men, and repeatedly failed by social services and police who have now apologised.
- Defence counsel told the court that Mushtaq Ahmed had been assaulted twice in prison since conviction, losing several teeth.
