Roblox Reportedly Surpasses Steam’s Concurrency Record With 47 Million-Plus Players

Outside estimates credit two viral, user-made games with driving the surge.

Overview

  • On August 23, Roblox recorded over 45 million concurrent users per CEO David Baszucki, with multiple reports placing the peak near 47.3–47.4 million.
  • The tally would exceed Steam’s all-time high of about 41.2 million concurrent users set in March 2025.
  • Grow a Garden and Steal a Brainrot accounted for more than 37 million players at the peak, with estimated individual highs of roughly 22 million and 15 million.
  • The new mark represents a sharp jump from Roblox’s previous record of about 32.7 million concurrent users on July 19.
  • The 47 million-plus estimate originated from strategist James Purell’s LinkedIn post and lacks independent public verification as Roblox has no widely used CCU dataset, while the platform also faces a Louisiana lawsuit over child safety.
