Robin Vaughan Jailed for Tesco Ram-Raid in Weaverham

Investigators say CCTV with ANPR evidence linked a stolen pickup to the break-in.

Overview

  • Chester Crown Court sentenced the 35-year-old to three years in prison on November 11 for conspiracy to burgle.
  • The Tesco Express on Northwich Road was hit at about 12:40am on June 16, with CCTV showing a Nissan Navara ramming the store multiple times.
  • More than £3,000 in cash and bags of parcels were taken, with over £35,000 in damage, a two-day closure, and about £24,000 in lost trade reported by police.
  • The Navara had been stolen in May from a Lancashire address, was later found dumped in a Dutton field, and stolen parcels were recovered from a nearby pond.
  • CCTV and ANPR traced the pickup’s trip from Merseyside in convoy with a blue Ford Focus, leading to an October 8 warrant and the arrest of Vaughan and a 39-year-old woman, after which he gave no comment in interview and later pleaded guilty.
