  • Robert Wilson died peacefully at age 83 on July 31, 2025, in Water Mill, New York, after a brief but acute illness.
  • He founded The Watermill Center in 1992 as an interdisciplinary laboratory that has supported hundreds of artists through residencies and experimental performances.
  • Wilson established the Byrd Hoffman School of Byrds in the mid-1960s and co-created the landmark opera Einstein on the Beach with Philip Glass in 1976.
