Overview

  • Pardlo died on July 17 in Willingboro, New Jersey, at the age of 46.
  • He rose to fame as the frontman of City High, whose 2001 single “What Would You Do?” reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a Grammy nomination.
  • After City High disbanded in 2003, Pardlo joined R&B quartet First Take and collaborated with Whitney Houston and Lil Kim.
  • He publicly battled alcoholism on a 2010 episode of A&E’s Intervention before achieving sobriety.
  • He is survived by his wife, Anika Pardlo; their two children, Lyric and Chord-Andrew; his mother, Marion Pardlo; and his brother, Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Gregory Pardlo.
