RMT Halts Next Week’s Tube Strikes After Talks as Later Walkouts Stay on the Calendar

The dispute stems from TfL’s voluntary four-day week pilot that unions say could lengthen shifts and raise fatigue risks.

Overview

  • RMT suspended the 24-hour walkouts on March 24–25 and March 26–27 after progress in talks with Transport for London.
  • Strikes remain scheduled for April 21–22 and April 23–24, plus May 19–20 and May 21–22, with additional dates set for June 16 and June 18.
  • Each stoppage is planned from midday to midday, creating disruption across two consecutive days per round.
  • Around 1,800 RMT-affiliated Tube drivers would participate while ASLEF members work, with the Northern, Jubilee, Victoria, Hammersmith & City, District, Metropolitan, Piccadilly and Bakerloo lines most affected.
  • Unite is balloting TfL bus station and network traffic controllers until April 13, raising the prospect of action that could coincide with the Tube strikes.
