Overview

  • Industrial action begins with a 24-hour walkout by Ruislip depot operational managers from 6pm on Friday 5 September to 5.59pm on Saturday 6 September in a separate dispute over pay parity.
  • Rolling, grade-specific strikes then run across the Underground from Sunday 7 to Thursday 11 September, covering control rooms, fleet, engineering, stations, trains, signallers, service control and the ERU on specified days.
  • RMT cites unresolved issues over pay, fatigue management, extreme shift patterns and a demand to reduce the contractual working week, also alleging failures to honour prior agreements.
  • TfL says it has offered a 3.4% pay increase and is willing to discuss fatigue and rostering but rejects reducing the 35-hour week as neither practical nor affordable.
  • DLR staff will also strike in the same week, and reporting indicates most Underground lines could be affected while the Elizabeth line and London Overground are expected to run.
