Riyadh Air Launches Riyadh Cargo, Activating Belly-Hold Freight Across Wide-Body Fleet
The carrier adopts a phased, digital-first build to align cargo growth with its expanding route map.
Overview
- Operations have begun with early shipments on the Riyadh–London Heathrow route, carrying perishables and high-value goods including fresh flowers, seafood, tea, coffee, garments, and textiles.
- Capacity will scale by using belly space across more than 120 on‑order aircraft as passenger services grow toward the end of the decade.
- An end-to-end cargo management system from CHAMP’s Cargo spot-neo underpins centralized airwaybill control, real-time data visibility, and faster decision-making.
- Digitally tracked unit load devices are being managed with Unilode to improve monitoring, stock optimization, and resilience during irregular operations.
- Ground handling and hub management are provided by SATS Saudi Arabia at Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah, as the cargo business supports Vision 2030 goals that project about $20 billion in non-oil GDP and over 200,000 jobs by 2030.
