Rivian Sets Aggressive Service Targets, Expands Mobile Fleet as R2 Launch Approaches

Rivian says the build-out targets shorter waits ahead of a larger customer base for its lower-priced R2.

Overview

  • The company plans to operate more than 150 service centers by the end of 2027, with over 50 new sites slated through next year and recent openings including Clifton Park, New York.
  • Rivian currently runs 97 service locations, 36 showrooms, and nearly 700 mobile vehicles, with more than 20 additional facilities shown as in progress on its service map.
  • A 50% increase in Mobile Service vans is planned through 2026 as Rivian enhances Remote Care diagnostics and technician training to complete more work off-site, including routine maintenance.
  • Over 1,000 service specialists were added and trained last year, which the company reports contributed to a 35% reduction in scheduling wait times in 2025.
  • The mass-market R2 is targeted at about $45,000, with higher-margin trims prioritized first, production starting this summer in Normal, Illinois with up to roughly 25,000 units in year one, and regional launches in Canada and Europe pushed back with timelines updated on Rivian’s site.
