Overview

  • The July 15 software update replaces Rivian’s legacy MapBox navigation in R1S and R1T vehicles and the Rivian mobile app with a custom Google Maps integration.
  • Google’s Automotive SDK powers dynamic routing, live traffic updates, real-time road disruption alerts and up-to-date ETAs in the in-car interface.
  • Drivers can tap points of interest on the map to view opening hours, reviews and contact information in a pop-up dialog.
  • Satellite imagery is accessible through the Rivian mobile app for drivers subscribed to Connect+.
  • The new mapping system retains Rivian’s EV trip planning tools from A Better Route Planner, including range estimates, charging preferences and reliability scores for networks like Tesla Superchargers.
