Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe Takes Over Product Development Amid Staff Reshuffle

The move comes as the electric vehicle maker is developing its next-generation platform and plans to expand its customer base.

  • Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe is assuming direct responsibility for all product development, following a staff reshuffle.
  • Outgoing Chief Product Officer Nick Kalayjian will transition to the role of Executive Vice President, Vehicle Engineering & Propulsion, and will continue to report to Scaringe.
  • The reshuffle comes as Rivian is developing its next-generation platform, the R2, which is expected to deliver more affordable EVs and help Rivian break into the mass market.
  • Rivian exceeded delivery expectations in Q3, with 15,564 EVs delivered to customers, up 24% from Q2 and more than double last year's numbers.
  • The company is also planning to start delivering its electric delivery vans to fleet customers beyond Amazon starting in 2024.
