Overview

  • The government eliminated a 7.5% special rate and imposed a 13.06% base rate plus a 5.56% surcharge, raising total club contributions to 18.62%.
  • Vice President Ignacio Villarroel called the measure “confiscatory and legally improper,” disputed Minister Federico Sturzenegger’s figures and stressed the club operates without state support.
  • River Plate reported contributing AR$8,078 million in social security in 2024 and projects AR$29,547 million in scholarships, medical assistance and infrastructure for 2025.
  • The club estimates the new regime will produce a net loss of AR$16,820 million between September 2023 and June 2025, endangering its initiatives including the new Colegio River Plate.
  • River Plate announced it will contest Disposition 16/2025 and Decree 510/2023 in court to overturn the revised contribution scheme.
