River North Mass Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Critical During Holiday Weekend of Gun Violence

Police in multiple cities are processing active scenes with no arrests announced in the latest mass-shooting cases.

  • Chicago police say four gunmen opened fire around 2:35 a.m. at LaSalle and Hubbard as victims entered a yellow Lamborghini SUV, killing a 34-year-old man and critically wounding three men, ages 35, 36, and 43.
  • Witnesses and investigators reported roughly 50 rounds fired in the River North attack before the assailants fled, and officers focused on vehicles and dozens of shell casings as they canvassed the area near Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
  • Hours earlier in Uptown, more than 40 shots were fired outside a McDonald’s, where a 23-year-old man was found fatally shot in the street and a silver sedan was seen leaving as detectives recovered a firearm nearby.
  • In East Baltimore, a 34-year-old man died and a 57-year-old man was critically injured after a shooting in a parking lot on East Madison Street, according to city police.
  • In the Bronx, police identified 15-year-old Eric Aitken as the teen fatally shot inside a residence as a 14-year-old boy nearby was wounded in the arm and stabilized, while Chicago also reported two 17-year-olds in custody after a West Lawn arrest during which a concealed gun discharged and COPA opened a review.
