River Barra Murder Convict Caught in Córdoba After Years Living Under Alias

A Córdoba-led probe unmasked the coach’s false identity.

  • He had embedded in the Traslasierra community as the women’s team coach at Club Santa Ana, where he was known as “Porto” and presented a DNI matching his assumed name.
  • Piñeiro was sentenced to life in 2015, a conviction upheld in 2017, for coauthoring the 2007 contract-style killing of River Plate barra member Martín Gonzalo Acro.
  • Prosecutors cited cell-site data placing him at the scene and said he alerted the gunmen, and authorities are now processing his transfer to Buenos Aires to enforce the sentence.
