- Sergio Alejandro Piñeiro, 50, was detained in Mina Clavero on Tuesday after years as a fugitive living as “Leandro Nicolás Iglesias.”
- Córdoba provincial police made the arrest in the street with support from a Policía Federal delegation on an order from the Cura Brochero prosecutor’s office.
- He had embedded in the Traslasierra community as the women’s team coach at Club Santa Ana, where he was known as “Porto” and presented a DNI matching his assumed name.
- Piñeiro was sentenced to life in 2015, a conviction upheld in 2017, for coauthoring the 2007 contract-style killing of River Plate barra member Martín Gonzalo Acro.
- Prosecutors cited cell-site data placing him at the scene and said he alerted the gunmen, and authorities are now processing his transfer to Buenos Aires to enforce the sentence.
