A Pakistan Bar Council panel will choose an independent forensic body, with its report to decide the contest's fate.

Overview

  • Leaders of the Professional Group and the Independent Group agreed to a complete forensic review of the biometric machines and the election server used in the February 28 vote.
  • A two-member committee comprising Pakistan Bar Council vice chairman Pir Masood Chishti and member Shafqat Mahmood Chohan will set the audit procedure and select the examiner, assisted by Secretary Qasim Ijaz Samra.
  • Both sides committed to accept the audit outcome, with fresh polls to follow if manipulation or faults are found and the previously announced results to stand if none are detected.
  • The Punjab Bar Council’s Executive Committee has suspended the results and requested the full election record from the LHCBA Election Board while the process moves forward.
  • The Election Board had declared Babar Murtaza Khan winner for president after polling was halted at 4 p.m. during chaotic scenes that led the Independent Group to reject the outcome.
