Rishikesh AIIMS Worker Killing: Partner Arrested In Uttar Pradesh

Police say the arrest follows a probe into conflicts over a planned marriage tied to a failed home purchase.

Preeti Rawat was shot at her rented home in Rishikesh’s Shivaji Nagar late Saturday and was declared dead at AIIMS.
Police identified the suspect as Suresh Gupta and said he was detained on Monday in the Chhutmalpur area of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
A murder case was registered under section 103(1) following a complaint from Rawat’s family, and investigators are questioning the accused.
According to police, Gupta had sought a divorce to marry Rawat and sold ancestral property for about Rs 35 lakh to buy a house in Rishikesh, which became a source of repeated disputes.
Rawat was divorced, lived alone, and worked as an assistant at AIIMS Rishikesh, and the investigation remains ongoing.
