Ripple Maps XRPL 3.0 for Institutional DeFi With Native Lending Later This Year

Compliance features roll out to ready the ledger for regulated use.

Overview

  • Ripple and RippleX published an updated XRPL roadmap that schedules a native lending protocol for Version 3.0.0 later in 2025, with validators urged to upgrade and developers asked to test on the devnet.
  • The lending design uses Single-Asset Vaults for pooled liquidity and transferable shares, enabling fixed-term loans with on-ledger issuance, repayment tracking, and reconciliation while underwriting stays off-chain.
  • Immediate compliance tools include Credentials for KYC attestations, Deep Freeze to halt transfers from flagged addresses, and transaction simulation to reduce operational risk.
  • Permissioned Domains and a Permissioned DEX are in validator voting to enable gated market participation based on credential verification.
  • Zero-knowledge work targets confidential Multi-Purpose Tokens in Q1 2026 to support privacy-preserving collateral and proofs, with the MPT standard set for October to encode instrument metadata and integrate with the DEX.
