Riot Games Updates Terms to Penalize Off-Platform Misconduct

The new policy, effective January 3, 2025, extends accountability for creators to behavior during content creation involving Riot titles, even outside the games themselves.

Riot Games will enforce penalties for creators' off-platform misconduct related to its games, such as hateful language or inappropriate behavior during streams or content creation.
The updated terms of service will apply specifically to content where Riot's games, like League of Legends and Valorant, are featured in the background.
Violations may result in restrictions on Riot accounts, including suspensions from all Riot games and services, and removal from the Riot Partner program if applicable.
The policy also targets actions that compromise competitive integrity, such as stream sniping, account boosting promotions, or encouraging rule-breaking behavior.
Riot clarified it will not proactively monitor all social media but will act on reported incidents that contravene its terms of service.
