Overview
- The Aquaviário Lagunar de Jacarepaguá was presented by Mayor Eduardo Paes to connect the Tijuca, Jacarepaguá, Marapendi and Camorim lagoons and serve major hubs in the Zona Sudoeste.
- The initial stage features five main stations — Jardim Oceânico (Metrô), Península, Parque Olímpico, Rio 2 and Recreio dos Bandeirantes — mapped to relieve pressure on the Avenidas das Américas and Ayrton Senna.
- A concession signed on September 17 requires the winning consortium to submit a work schedule within 30 days, with the city expecting the first operations around October 2026 and a phased rollout thereafter.
- Fares will integrate with the Jaé system and the Bilhete Único Carioca, starting at R$4.70 and linking to metro, BRT and bus services for unified trips.
- The standardized fleet will carry 42 to 120 passengers with enclosed cabins, safety and navigation systems, night signaling and accessibility, while dredging and cleanup contracted with Iguá Saneamento target completion by August 2026 under INEA-approved licensing.
