Overview
- Agenersa inspectors on October 2–3 found at least three blocked sewer outlets in Rio’s Centro and Barra neighborhoods, including at Avenida Ministro Evandro Lins e Silva 840.
- The agency will refer the cases to the DPMA and the state prosecutor’s office and will open regulatory proceedings that could bring penalties under rules barring hazardous service suspensions.
- In Barra, the Office Tower condominium says its outlet was sealed in March and it has relied on a private treatment station with daily vacuum-truck removal, calling the measure illegal and a public-health risk.
- Iguá says it has not been formally notified by the regulator, cites nonpayment by the building since 2022, claims the suspension was formally issued and previously noticed, and says temporary storage prevents overflow.
- Águas do Rio states there are no current sewage cutoffs and denies responsibility for internal condominium systems or irregular installations.
