Rio Expands Summer Beach Operation With Limited Glass Use, New Signage and Access Controls

Overview

• Decree No. 57,243 authorizes licensed beach vendors to handle sealed bottles of distilled spirits inside tents solely for preparing drinks under IVISA-Rio rules.
• Roughly 250 informational signs with QR codes are being installed along the shoreline starting in Copacabana to spell out beach rules for visitors.
• Access checkpoints at Prainha and Grumari resume with drone support to curb illegal parking and flanelinhas, with about 800 vehicle spaces controlled during peak hours.
