Overview
- The State Secretariat of Public Security rolled out the new electoral-reporting function in the SISP Cidadão app on Thursday, October 1, 2026, and the updated app is now free to download on Android and iOS.
- Users can submit reports by voice or text, attach photos, videos or files, share the device’s location or enter an address, and choose anonymous or authenticated (gov.br) submission before receiving a protocol number to track the case.
- Submissions are routed to technicians at the Tribunal Regional Eleitoral do Rio de Janeiro (TRE-RJ) and are added to an in‑app map that groups incidents by region and uses collective confirmation to help set priorities for follow-up.
- The tool is designed to capture complaints about acts defined under electoral law—such as vote buying, boca de urna, irregular voter transport, unlawful campaign material and the spread of false information—and it operates alongside existing public-safety services in the app.
- Real-world effect will depend on TRE-RJ’s capacity to verify and process reports and on how the system handles volume and contested claims, but the feature gives citizens a simpler way to send evidence and receive a protocol for monitoring a complaint.
